Work – Home Balance: Families and parenting
95% of WA students have never used ecstasy, heroin or amphetamine yet drug use is a huge concern to most parents. However many use alcohol in a harmful or hazardous manner. These, and many other harmful risk taking behaviours such as binge drinking and early sexual experimentation, can be potentially life threatening, and are of great concern to parents and the wider community.
WA Health Education Services understands that linking businesses and their community to provide access to education about issues of concern assists employees and community members to enhance their work-life balance.
These sessions cover and aim to empower parents with information, skills and resources about effective communication with your teenager:
- Alcohol & other drug issues
- Safer celebrations
- The media hype about young people
- Resilience
- Body image
- Early sexualisation of children
This session provides parents with an opportunity to share their concerns, ideas and experiences with other parents, as well as professionals, and to gain more understanding of the issues that their children are facing at younger ages than ever before
